Tayhana García is a live news & feature segments reporter The FOX26 News morning show “Great Day”.
In the last two years Tayhana is a 4-time Emmy winner and a 16-time Emmy nominee. She has covered devastating hurricanes in Florida, Hawaii and New York, massive fires all across California, and national political campaigns among other assignments.
Tayhana graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in Communication Arts and in Business Administration, and a double minor in Fashion Design and Theology. She is fluently bilingual.
Tayhana recently swept the floor at the Emmy awards- Winning as “Best Video Journalist”— Both in the “24 hour” and in the “No time limit” categories- Which means she can shoot, write, edit, produce and go live as a “one woman band.”
Tayhana has worked in the television & radio industry since she was in college. She’s worked in top television markets such as Los Angeles and Miami, for stations such as Univision, Estrella TV, GenTV and La Nueva FM- where she also had National segments and served as a national correspondent. Almost 4 years ago she decided to make the Valley her home.
Tayhana loves talking to people and finding out ways in which news stories/ investigative pieces could make others’ lives better. She believes there is power in communication, and the reason why she chose this career was to somehow serve the better good.
She’s from the Dominican Republic, a small island in the Caribbean, where she learned first-hand that nothing in life comes easy. She believes in the motto “Be humble. Be hungry. And always be the hardest worker in the room.” She likes to say that no matter where her journey leads, the extra mile is always where you’ll find her.
