Tulare little leaguers make Cal Ripken World Series, need help getting there
A Tulare 12-year-old all-star baseball team is heading to North Carolina, to play in the Cal Ripken Major/60 Division World Series - but they need the Central Valley's help to pay for expenses surrounding the trip. While the Cal Ripken organization is paying for the flight tickets for the players and coaches, the Tulare 12 All Star team is fundraising for lodging, food, ground transportation and travel expenses for family members.
The team has set up a GoFundMe page here. It is also fundraising in the city of Tulare on Friday, July 28th and Saturday the 29th, at a house on the corner of Prosperity and West Streets.

The team qualified for the World Series by winning the Pacific Southwest Division regional tournament in Long Beach. From Monday, July 17th to Saturday, July 22nd, the Tulare 12 All Stars went 5-1, beating teams from Hawaii, Southern California, Northern California, Dos Palos and Arizona. The team beat Hawaii 4-3 in the championship game, improving its record to 23-5 for the summer.
The team will leave for Clemmons, North Carolina on Tuesday, August 1st. Opening ceremonies are August 3rd, and the team could play up until the 10th.
