Photos worth much more than just 1,000 words

Nancy Silva posing with all of Hanford's senior football players.

Since the 90's Nancy Silva has been capturing moments of Hanford High School athletes.

It all started when her son made the varsity water polo team. Nancy found herself taking film photos with a point and shoot. She would go to the developer and ask for two copies.

Now, Nancy is on the sidelines of almost every football game, both home, and away, taking more than 2000 photos a game.

Not only does she take photos for the High-School football games, but she snaps shots at men's and women's water polo, basketball, baseball, volleyball, you name it.

"I love it. I love these kids. It brings joy to my heart," says Silva.

At the end of every season Nancy takes all of the photos, and puts them into a book for the athletes, and their families to have, forever.

She does it at no cost, asking for nothing in return.

Mimi Hughes knows first-hand how irreplaceable Nancy, and her photos are. She has two sons that have been a part of the Hanford football program.

"The book is priceless. People of asked me repeatedly 'can she make us one can she make us one, how much does she charge?' We have so many pictures between our homes of the kids it's beautiful," says Hughes.

Now, Mimi watches her son Jupri play, who is a senior at Hanford. Jupri's older brother Juju played for Hanford, and is now a sophomore at Fresno state.

"She has all the best moments, all the championships we got to win here, she really captured my whole high school on pictures," says Juju.

For Nancy, once a Bullpup, always a Bullpup. She continues to catalog Juju's career at Fresno State.

"I will always cherish these long lasting memories for years to come. We can look forward to them, and we can look back on all these great memories that she's captured for us," says Cedric Hughes, the boys' father.

On Friday Nancy was on the field early, taking photos of all of the seniors and their families. Both football players, and cheerleaders.

Those photos will be edited, and uploaded. Nancy will tag the students, and their families so they are able to remember, and look back on life's fleeting moments, forever.
