Grizzlies' food plan a grand slam
Ever wonder what happens to all of that unsold food that is left over after Fresno Grizzlies' baseball games?
Thanks to some creative thinking and dedication, that food is no longer going to waste.
It used to be thrown out, but now it is collected and donated to the Poverello House, where it is served to the needy in our community.
After every game, the Grizzlies typically donate 80-120 hot dogs and 8-10 boxes of pizza.
Multiply that by 68 games, and you can see how much of an impact the plan can have.
The Poverello House, which is Fresno's downtown shelter for the homeless, is also receiving unsold food from Fresno FC soccer games as well as any special event at Chukchansi Park.
