Central dominates Clovis West to clinch TRAC title

In a showdown between the Valley's two best high school teams to this point, Central dominated Clovis West, winning 40-13.

With two regular season games remaining entering Thursday night's showdown at Lamonica Stadium between Central and Clovis West, there was little doubt these had been the two best teams in the Central Valley to this point. Both entered 7-1, 3-0 in Tri-River Athletic Conference play, and both had won handily in almost every one of their wins. However, it was the Grizzlies proving once again they are capable of reaching a different level.

Central got three rushing touchdowns from Diotry Brewer, then two passing scores and a rushing score from quarterback Trent Tompkins in a 40-13 win. The Grizzlies led 33-0 through three quarters, as a stifling defense shut down a normally potent Golden Eagles attack.

Central locks up a TRAC title with the win, with one regular season game remaining.
