Central beats Buchanan in thriller, Tulare Union continues to put up video game numbers
It was a pretty, pretty good Thursday night of high school football in the Valley. Three of the top teams were in action, and none disappointed.
At Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Central scored a touchdown in the final 30 seconds to beat Buchanan 28-27. The Grizzlies led the previously undefeated Bears 21-14 at half, but needed a couple of great, late plays from quarterback Trent Tompkins to pull it out on the road. The final score came from Tompkins, passing to Jacob Torrez. In the loss, Buchanan got four rushing scores from Trevor Ervin, and two interceptions from Brock Jones.
Meanwhile in Tulare, at Bob Mathias Stadium, Tulare Union put up 69 points for the second straight week, in a 69-10 defeat of Monache. Tribe running back Kazmeir Allen scored *only* four touchdowns, which is actually one below his season average. Allen's 30 touchdowns in six games leads the entire state of California, and is second most in the country, according to stats on MaxPreps.com
