Bulldogs must find balance in Las Vegas

Sports reporter Nick King is in Las Vegas with the team and talked to them about the balancing act of having fun and focusing on the bowl game.

Last year, the Fresno State Bulldogs went to Hawai'i for the bowl game.

This year, the 'Dogs are in Las Vegas.

Both spots are a well deserved reward for a triumphant season, so the team should enjoy itself, but players are still dead set on winning Saturday's game above all else.

Sports reporter Nick King is in Las Vegas with the team and talked to them about the balancing act of having fun and focusing on the bowl game.

Senior wide receiver Keesean Johnson said, "I feel like we made clear as a team that we wanted to come out here and you know , give our best shot at the game coming out victorious. You know, we do the fun things, but we need to know when to dial in. I feel like our team is good with that."

"I feel like were in the benefits of having a senior heavy team is that it makes us very mature as a full team," said senior linebacker George Helmuth. "Everything in moderation you know. We're here to win a football game first and foremost. We're also here to enjoy ourselves a little. So we go out and enjoy what Vegas has to offer. But being responsible about it."

Senior quarterback Marcus McMaryion said, "Just a lot of distractions. I mean, you're in Vegas. There is a lot going on. But at the end of the day, just understanding that we're here to win a football game. Just the fact that we've worked so hard to put ourselves in the position, I mean, it would be kind of a shame to not come all focused all week and prepared and try to win a football game."

There is still a lot of good times to be had for the team this week leading up to Saturday's game...

Tuesday night, some of the coaches, as well as team captains McMaryion and Helmuth, went on a helicopter tour of Las Vegas.

On Wednesday night, there will be a big welcome party for both Fresno State and Arizona State.
