FNR Report: Getting to know Coach Biggs

FNR Report: Getting to know Coach Biggs

Get ready for another great Friday Night Rivals matchup.

Ralph Wood and Vince Wesson will have Clovis North at Central starting at 7:00 p.m. on CW59.

FOX26 sports reporter Nick King visited with Grizzlies head coach Kyle Biggs.

Kyle Biggs wants to bring Central its first football Valley Championship in school history.

Any head coach would, but mostly, Biggs wants these high schoolers to have the kind of special memories he has.

You see, Biggs led Clovis High to a 1997 Valley Title as quarterback for the Cougars. "Winning a championship with your best friends is something you're going to remember the rest of your life. And then our year at Fresno City, we went 10-0 and formed a real good bond with a lot of good people on that football team and built lifelong relationships," said Coach Biggs.

After FCC, Biggs played at a division two school in New Mexico, then played a year for the Central Valley Coyotes, Fresno's one-time arena league team.

From there, it's been all coaching, 12 years as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator at Clovis, Buchanan, Central and Bullard, then two years as head coach at Fowler, and now Biggs is in his second year leading the Grizzlies. "It's in my blood. I've been around coaching my whole life, my dad being a coach, started out as a ballboy when I was a little kid, in 2nd grade going to all the games and taking pride in being the best ballboy around...drawing plays up and giving them to the head coach...they weren't very good plays, but I was proud of them. I knew, and all my friends knew, as soon as I was done playing I was going to coach," said Biggs.

Nick King also asked Brancos head coach Benny Martinez to be part of this interview but he declined.

Good luck to both coaches.

If you can't make it to the game, make sure you watch it at 7:00 p.m. on The CW59.
