COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - North Ridgeville police officers responded to a strange call Saturday morning.

At 5:26 a.m., officers received a call from a male who stated he was walking home from the train station in Elyria. He then went on to state that he was being followed by a pig.

On the official North Ridgeville Police Department Facebook page, officers admitted they were skeptical. It was the middle of the night and they thought the caller could possibly be drunk.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found a sober male walking eastbound from the Amtrak station -- and a pig following him.

Ptlm. Kuduzovic was able to grab the pig and put the animal into his cruiser.

The department joked on Facebook:

"Also, we will mention the irony of the pig in a police car now so that anyone that thinks they’re funny is actually unoriginal and trying too hard."

They took the pig back to the station, where it was later returned to its owner around 8 a.m.
