The government officially is in a partial shutdown.
President Trump late Friday night posted a video produced by the White House on his personal Twitter page.
In it, he blames Democrats for not voting for a budget bill that would include funding for his promised border wall.
The funding in question includes budgets for the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department.
Before it adjourned, the Senate unanimously passed a bill to make sure federal employees who are furloughed will get back pay.
It will still need to pass the house.
This would mark the first time in 40 years that the government will have been closed three times in one year.
