There are two different views of the water tank explosion in Lemoore.

Both, however, show the tank flying off its base roughly 70 feet into the air.

41-year-old contractor Dion Jones, who was welding on the tank at the time of the blast, was killed.

As the tank blows, you can see the water from inside creating what City Manager Nathan Olson called, “A Tsunami-like condition.”

The force of the water pushed a truck off the road and out of the field.

CAL-OSHA has spent the past two days investigating the accident.

Safety engineer Nick Panos told FOX26 News that he’s never seen anything like this in his 20 years in the field.

Right now, he says investigators aren’t close to determining what cause the explosion.

CAL-OSHA will be doing interviews with water plant employees in the week ahead.

Pano says the investigation could take up to six months.
