A Tulare County jury has found a Visalia man guilty of killing his 47-day-old daughter.

On Wednesday, a jury convicted Aaron Rowe, 28, of second degree murder and assault likely to cause great bodily injury.

According to a press release, in the late evening of November 12, 2012, Peyton Rowe was taken to Kaweah Delta after being found unconscious on the floor. Doctors and nurse tried to revive her but she was pronounced dead a few minutes past midnight. After further investigation, it was discovered that Peyton had sever bruising on the left side of her face and ear, and fractures on her right humerus and femur caused by blunt force trauma. An autopsy uncovered the baby also had twelve prior rib fractures on the left and right side of her body, and arm and leg fractures on the left side. She also sustained bruises to the front and back of her skull, with extensive hemorrhaging in her brain.

Doctors testified that the extensive injuries were caused by violent shaking and impacts. On November 15, 2012, Rowe was arrested for murder. Evidence at trial showed Rowe had a history of domestic violence and physical child abuse.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 8, 2018, in Superior Court where Rowe faces life in prison.
