Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux has officially launched his campaign to represent the 20th Congressional District seat being vacated by House Speaker Emeritus, Kevin McCarthy.
In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Boudreaux says he felt "the calling" to serve.
“We deserve experienced, conservative leadership in Congress with a record of accomplishment,” said Boudreaux. “I have spent my entire career in law enforcement, committed to keeping my community safe.”
Boudreaux is a 37-year veteran of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
He has been Sheriff since 2013 and is the current president of the California State Sheriff’s Association.
“I have seen the devastating impacts of President Biden’s Open Door Policy at our southern border here in the San Joaquin Valley and firsthand at the border itself,” said Boudreaux. “I will fight to strengthen our border and restore fairness to our immigration system. I will fight against Washington’s reckless tax-and-spend culture, bringing fiscal responsibility back to the center of our national finances.”

The 20th Congressional District includes part of Tulare, Fresno, Kings, and Kern Counties.
Tuesday, McCarthy announced he’s endorsing 32nd District Assemblyman Vince Fong – who is his former District Director.
“Throughout his career, Vince has fought tirelessly to improve the quality of life in the Central Valley,” Rep. McCarthy says. “There is no one that I trust more to continue the fight for common-sense and conservative values in Washington DC."
Fong’s district includes mostly Kern County and stretches into Tulare County.
