Two teenage boys were arrested for committing an armed robbery, deputies say.

It happened around 4:00 p.m. on December 4 at a Dollar General Store on Henderson Road in Caruthers.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, a 14-year-old and 15-year-old boy went into the store with masks and hooded sweatshirts. The 14-year-old was armed with a handgun and the 15-year-old had a knife.

The two demanded the clerk hand over the store's cash.

Deputies say during the robbery, the 14-year-old fired two shots into the ceiling while the other boy waved the knife around.

Deputies say after the teens got the money, they ran out the door.

When deputies got to the store, deputies detained a teenage boy near the outside of the store. The boy was not involved in the robbery, but he knew the two people who were responsible.

Deputies then identified the two boys, arrested them and recovered the stolen cash. Deputies also recovered the gun and clothing they used during the robbery.

Deputies say this robbery is not related to a recent string of robberies in Caruthers.
