Tulare man sentenced to life in prison for child molestation
TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) —
A 36-year-old man was sentenced to prison for child molestation.
The Tulare County District Attorney's Office says Jose Luis Garcia was sentenced 35 years to life in prison on eight counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of fourteen, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of possession of stolen property.
Back in July, Garcia pleaded no contest to those charges. He also admitted the special allegations of substantial sexual conduct and that the crimes involved multiple victims. Each count is a felony and eight counts are considered strike offenses.
Garcia is also required to to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
The Attorney's Office says the crimes happened between July 23, 1995 and December 17, 2011 against six boys.
The boys were between the ages of 5 and 10 years old at the time of the sexual assaults.
