UPDATE: Madera train derailment cleared, roads open

Ave. 12 in Madera closed after train derails (FOX26)

UPDATE: 4:15 p.m. - The derailed train has been cleared and roads are back up.

Two train engines and one railcar came off the tracks northeast of Madera.

The derailed cars are blocking Avenue 12 completely.

Eastbound traffic is closed at Road 30 1/2 and westbound traffic is closed at Road 32.

The tracks are the BNSF main line tracks, which are also used by Amtrak.

Amtrak put out a statement following the derailment.

Crews are assessing the damage.

Right now it isn't known how long before the tracks will reopen.
