Sun-Maid raisins announces end of strike
Sun-Maid Growers today announced that the cooperative has reached a new contract with Teamsters Local 431.
This Agreement was ratified by Union members on Tuesday, and all Union employees will return to work on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
The new contract maintains the benefits included in the August 6, 2018 Tentative Agreement, including an increase in year-over-year, market competitive wages, monthly medical contributions throughout every year of the contract, and increased pension contributions in the second and third year of the agreement.
The new agreement is effective immediately. These changes reflect nearly a 9% percent increase in the total contract value from the previous, three-year contract.
President and CEO of Sun-Maid, Harry Overly said “We are pleased to have a new contract with the Teamsters Union today, and we hope Union members will find our new solution to be mutually beneficial and fair for all involved,”
“The continued, long-term growth and sustainability of Sun-Maid rely on responsible business decisions that offer stability for both our employees and our partners, and we are optimistic that we achieved that today with the Teamsters Union.”
