A propane truck burning near Sierra High School forced school officials to place the school on lockdown on Wednesday.

Students and school personnel were moved to the opposite side of the school, away from the burning truck.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Department was first on the scene and helped secure the area and kept people back, just in case the tank exploded.

When Cal Fire got there, they were able to put the fire out but the tank continued to leak propane for about 30 minutes until a serviceman from Suburban Propane got there and shut it down.

There were no injuries reported and the lockdown was lifted.

Fire crews say the fire was caused by overheated brakes.
