Shooting in Central Fresno is now a homicide

UPDATE: Thursday, December 20, 2017 - A shooting in Central Fresno is now a homicide investigation, after the 16-year-old shooting victim died.

Detectives say the teen lived at the home and was involved in some kind of disturbance with a family member.

Witnesses reported seeing the shooter run away on foot and officers were able to locate him.

The juvenile suspect was interviewed and booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Detention Center for murder.

UPDATE: Wednesday, December 20, 2017 - Police say the victim suffered gunshot wounds to his upper body and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition.

Police also say the male victim is approximately 16-years-old.

Officers detained a person believed to be connected to the shooting based on a description they were given.

They say the shooting was not random and that the two knew each other, but are not releasing the relationship yet.

However, officers say they do have a relative in custody but they didn't mention whether or not that person was arrested in connection with the shooting.

Police are talking to witnesses who say the victim lived at the home where the shooting happened.

No gun has been located.

Fresno police were called to a home on Michigan St. just after noon on Wednesday for a report of a shooting.

An officer at the scene told FOX26 one person was taken to the hospital and one person was detained in connection with the shooting.
