Man and mother of 8-year-old Hanford girl arrested, girl found safe

SECOND UPDATE: The Fresno County Sheriff's Department says a man and the mother of a missing 8-year-old Hanford girl have been arrested. The 8-year-old girl has also been found and she is safe.

Deputies found 8-year-old Eva in Southeast Fresno between Maple and Backer.


UPDATE: Fresno Police say the man who was wanted in connection with a missing 8-year-old girl has been arrested.

The 8-year-old girl, Evangelina “Eva” Sanchez, is still missing.

Jose Gonzalez was arrested in a Fresno Walmart parking lot.


KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) -- UPDATE AT 8:45 p.m.: The Kings County Sheriff's Office has identified the man they're looking for that may be with Eva. His name is Jose Gonzalez.


Right now, the Kings County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to track down a missing girl and the man who took her from her Hanford home.

The Kings County Sheriff's Office says 8-year-old Evangelina “Eva” Sanchez was taken from her Hanford home around 10:45 a.m. Monday morning by a man who says he’s her father.

We’re told deputies don’t know his name, but these are some of the features he has that help identify him;

  • - He’s described as a Latino male between the age of 20-30
  • - Height: 6’2”
  • - Weight: around 200 lbs.

The identified man deputies are looking for has three noticeable tattoos:

  • - A bulldog tattoo on the right side of his upper neck
  • - an eyeball tattoo on his left cheek
  • - some sort of other tattoo on his left jaw

We’re told witnesses think Eva is on her way to her mother in Fresno or Lemoore. Her mother is 32-year-old Felicia Flores.

Eva is described as the following;

  • - Height: 3’5”
  • - Weight: 50 or 60 lbs.
  • - Brown eyes & brown hair
  • - Last seen wearing a black sweater & pastel colored pajama pants
