Police: Worker run over and killed at tomato plant in Lemoore
LEMOORE, Calif. (FOX26 NEWS) —
The Lemoore Police Department says a worker was run over and killed Thursday morning at the Olam Tomato Processing Plant.
Police say a call came in around 5:30 a.m. of a traffic collision in the 1100 block S. 19th Avenue. When officers arrived they began and investigation and uncovered that an employee driving a truck and tomato trailers was having mechanical problems pulling out of a loading dock. That's when police say another male employee tried to help the truck driver by releasing a valve underneath the trailer. The truck driver did not see the man and began moving forward. The employee was struck and sustained unknown injuries. The man was taken to Adventist Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
The collision is still under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Lemoore Police Department, Corporal Kyle Reynolds, at 559-924-9574.
