Police: Woman arrested for human trafficking after trying to lure teen into prostitution
HANFORD, Calif. (FOX26) —
A woman is now under arrest after police say she tried to lure a 15-year-old girl into prostitution.
Hanford police say the 15-year-old girl's parents reported her missing on Thursday.
Police say the parents put out fliers on social media and offered a $200 reward for any information on their daughter's whereabouts.
On Sunday, police say a woman called the parents and said she had the victim in a motel room in Hanford. The parents then met the caller and picked up their daughter after paying the reward money.
After the 15-year-old victim was interviewed by Hanford detectives, it was learned the victim had met up with an acquaintance, 21-year-old Dasha Smith, who took the girl in.
The victim told police that Smith drove her to Las Vegas for the night. Police say Smith persuaded and explained to the victim how to make money in prostitution.
Police say Smith then told the victim that they would go to the coast and eventually to Atlanta, Georgia with the promise of making several hundred dollars by having sex.
Hanford detectives found Dasha Smith at the Western States Inn on Monday with her infant child and 18-year-old Xzaivier McGee.
Smith was arrested for human trafficking and pandering. McGee was also arrested for sexual acts with a minor.
