Accidental shooting wounds one by person drinking, playing with gun in Fresno

One person was shot Friday morning in southwest Fresno.

The Fresno Police Department got a call about a shooting at a residence on Eden Avenue, near Kearny Blvd and Thorne Avenue around 9:00 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a young man who had been shot.

They provided first aid until paramedics arrived and took the teen to the hospital.

Investigators learned multiple people were drinking and one was playing with a gun when it accidentally fired, hitting the teen in the upper body.

A fight then broke out because of the shooting.


Officers took the victim's brother into custody but they say he fought, kicked, and bit them.

Three officers had to be checked out at the hospital.

The victim remains in critical condition.

Police have not said who fired the shot at this time and could not locate a gun at the scene.
