Officer killed in the line of duty laid to rest
STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) —
Cpl. Ronil Singh of the Newman Police Department laid to rest on Saturday, January 5th.
Cpl. Singh was shot and killed in the line of duty on December 26th.
Police say Mexican national Gustavo Perez Arriaga shot Cpl. Singh when he was pulled over for driving a car with no license plate.
Arriaga was charged with Singh's murder.
Ronil Singh leaves behind a wife and 5-month-old son.
On Friday, January 4, there will be an Honor Guard Viewing for Cpl. Ronil Singh from 9:00 a.m. to noon. A formal law enforcement procession will then leave to Modesto.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5th and the public is invited to attend.
The service will take place at CrossPoint Community Church, located at 1301 12th St. in Modesto.
There will also be an Honor Guard Viewing 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Newman Community Meeting Room, located at 1200 Main Street in Newman, and then again 5-9:00 p.m. at Salas Brothers Funeral Home, located at 419 Scenic Drive in Modesto.
