The search is now intensifying for a man accused of killing a woman in Washington state.
Both the accused killer and victim are from the Central Valley.
On June 27, 33-year-old Jacob Gonzales was charged with "domestic violence murder in the second degree" for the killing of Katherine Cunningham.
Gonzales previously lived in Los Banos.
Cunningham lived in Merced.
As FOX26 News previous reported, Cunningham's body was found March 3rd on Camano Island -- about 60 miles north of Seattle.
Now, the Island County Sheriff's office says she had been decapitated.
And, detectives believe it was with a samurai sword.
They say Gonzales had been living with Cunningham when he killed her and stole her Honda Civic.
That car was found abandoned on Interstate 5 in Yreka, with the sword inside.
DNA test results identified blood on the sword as Cunningham's.
Detectives say Gonzales' DNA was on the hilt.
A $1 million nationwide warrant is in effect for Gonzales' arrest.
Gonzales could be hiding out in Merced County.
He is 5'9" and weighs 150 lbs. He has black hair and hazel eyes.
He should be considered armed.
Local law enforcement have been alerted that he could be in the area.
