Merced K9 discovers heroin during traffic stop
MERCED, Calif. (FOX26) —
Merced CHP is looking for a driver who left two kilos of heroin behind.
An officer pulled over a white BMW and found the driver's license was suspended.
While he was impounding the car in a Burger King parking lot off Childs Avenue, the driver ran off, leaving a passenger behind.
CHP brought in K9 Benny to do a sniff search and discovered the heroin in a backpack inside the trunk.
The heroin has a street value of about $58,000.
The passenger left behind was taken to jail on unrelated charges.
CHP is still looking for the driver of the BMW.
