A Squaw Valley man picked the wrong victim to hold up on Halloween.

A Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy was walking toward his office when he was approached by 56-year-old David King.

King confronted the deputy near Fresno and P Streets in downtown Fresno.

The deputy, who was not in uniform, says King told him he had all his property stolen and needed money.

That's when the deputy says King reached into his jacket and demanded all of the deputy's money.

The deputy saw King had his hand on a gun and grabbed King's hand.

A second deputy, also off-duty, saw what was happening and got involved to help take King into custody.

The weapon turned out to be a BB gun that looked similar to a Beretta handgun.

King was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a felony charge of attempted robbery.
