A man was shot by a Fresno police officer during a domestic violence disturbance in Southeast Fresno early Friday morning.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance call at Chestnut and Church avenues at a 7-Eleven store around 12:48 a.m.

Officials say an intoxicated couple pulled into the 7-Eleven parking lot causing a scene.

Investigators say the man went inside the store and the woman got out of the car presumably to get away from the man.

The man got back into his car to start driving away that is when Fresno police showed up to investigate the situation.

Officers say the man got stuck on a curb and police asked him to get out of the car but he refused.

The man then put the car in reverse and rammed into the police car twice.

That is when a Police officer started shooting at the man and struck him.

Investigators say the man is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Police have blocked off the scene as it is under investigation.
