Man dies in crash one hour after 21st birthday
RED BLUFF, Calif. —
A 21-year-old died in a crash just one hour after his birthday.
It happened shortly before 1:00 a.m. Thursday on Highway 99 East in Red Bluff.
According to our sister station, KRCR, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) says a 21-year-old was driving a Dodge truck southbound when he veered off the road, over-corrected and crashed into a walnut tree.
The vehicle rolled over and was found upside down on the shoulder. The 21-year-old died in the crash.
Caltrans and CHP units responded to the scene.
CHP is investigating alcohol as a factor after officers say beer cans were found inside the truck and throughout the scene.
