Hubbard-Baro Foundation presents $50K to VA Hospital
FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) —
It's the season for giving, and in that spirit, the Hubbard-Baro Foundation has given the Fresno VA Hospital its largest donation to date.
Each year, the foundation holds its annual Hubbard-Baro Memorial Golf Tournament in honor of Buchanan High students Jeremiah Baro and Jared Hubbard, who paid the ultimate price while serving in Iraq.
To date, the Hubbard-Baro Foundation has raised more than $350,000.
On Friday, the foundation presented a $50,000 check to the VA Central California Healthcare System.
Austin Brock with the foundation said, "We have such a close group of friends overall to make this all happen. But really, this is just the least that we can do. We don't get those times for them to come back, and all hang out. So the best thing we can do is get together and go play golf, and do something for the community. "
A Christmas tree was lit in the foundation's honor in the hospital's annual tree lighting celebration.
Some of the money donated has gone toward the hospital's rehabilitation therapy room, named in honor of the men lost.
