Standoff in Northeast Fresno ends peacefully
UPDATE: An investigation is underway following a two hour standoff in Northeast Fresno.
It happened Wednesday just around 8:00 a.m. at a house on Pontiac Way.
According to Fresno Police, a call came in about an argument at the house.
Police say a 33-year-old man, who was armed, was inside the house with other family members.
Officers were able to talk the man into coming out of the house peacefully.
Police say the man let his family members leave the house first. The man was unarmed when he walked outside.
The man was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Police say it is unknown at this point if the man will be charged.
The entire standoff lasted about two hours.
Police say a shotgun was found inside the home. The incident remains under investigation.
There is a lot of police activity in a Northeast Fresno neighborhood.
The neighborhood is on Pontiac Way near Fresno Street and Ashlan.
Details are limited, but we do know that Pontiac Way between Drexell and Anna is closed right now. If you are planning to travel in that area, expect delays.
