Hanford Marine to carry wreath to President George H.W. Bush's casket

A Hanford man who is a Gunnery Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps will have the honor of carrying a wreath to lay at the casket of President George H.W. Bush.

Marine Sgt. Sergio Hernandez of Hanford is stationed at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C.

Sgt. Hernandez will carry a wreath to be laid at President George H.W. Bush's casket. He will also stand guard by the casket throughout the night.

Sgt. Hernandez's wife, Veronica, says throughout the past 16 years, Sgt. Hernandez has serviced three combat tours to Iraq, one combat tour to Afghanistan, countless duties around the world being on embassy duty and is currently the Company Gunnery Sargent at marine Barracks Washington, D.C.

The 41st president died Friday at his home in Houston at 94. He will be honored during several public and private events in Houston and Washington before his burial Thursday in Texas.
