Fresno Police: Elderly woman robbed inside car

The Fresno Police Department needs your help in finding a woman accused of robbing an elderly woman.

It happened Tuesday around 2:41 p.m. in the parking lot of the Tower Market located at 1233 North Van Ness Avenue.

Police say an elderly woman waited in her car while her son went into a store.

That's when woman walked up to the unlocked driver's side door, got into the vehicle, and robbed the elderly woman, police say.

Police say the suspect attempted to take the elderly woman's purse by force. When the suspect was unable to get the purse from the elderly woman, the suspect reached into the purse and took the victim's wallet and fled from the scene.

Police say the suspect is described as a black woman, 35-40 years old, with a thin build.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark colored "San Jose State" hoodie, leopard print pants and a light colored beanie.
