Fresno standoff over, man surrendered to police

UPDATE: A standoff in Fresno has ended with a man surrendering to police.

Police say a tip came in that Jose Marquez, wanted in connection with a shooting, was known to be at the home on McKenzie Ave.

Police tried to get Marquez to come out for about 3 hours and were just about to deploy SWAT when he surrendered.

Marquez was arrested for possession of a firearm and detectives are continuing to investigate the warrant for the shooting.

Fresno Police are in a standoff with a shooting suspect at a small apartment complex in Central Fresno.

It happened in the area of Glenn and McKenzie Tuesday afternoon.

Officers have evacuated homes around the suspect.

Several streets are blocked off while negotiators are trying to contacting the man.

Police are calling out his name over and over through patrol cars loudspeaker in hopes of him giving up peacefully.
