Members of a southeast Fresno church had to cancel services this weekend after thieves stole the buildings window air conditioning units for the Children's classrooms.

The theft happened back on July 8th at Fresno United Christian Liberty Evangelical Church, located at 4557 E Tulare St.

The church remained open, but now the temperature has made the classroom unbearable.

Security cameras caught the man on a bike come to the church twice in the same day to steal two different A/C units.

After taking the first unit, the man carried it on his shoulder, so he may live in the area near the church. When he returned for the second unit, he had a dolly.

The church will hold a meeting to try to figure out how to pay for a new units and how to keep them secure so thieves can't take the new ones.

Police say while the theft will cost the church thousands in damage and replacement costs, the recycled metal value is only about $15 total.

Police believe the same man came returned on July 29th and tried to steal another A/C unit.
