A Fresno family is still asking for justice after Richard Juarez—a son, father, friend and beloved man in his community— was beat to death on Chestnut and Washington a year and a half ago.

Dozens of people gathered to celebrate his birthday at his grave and reminded the public that his murder mystery has not been resolved.

His mother, Laura Flores, says "The people that hurt him, that killed him, left him life a dog in the middle of the street. they didn't stop to think, or maybe they had no idea. His baby girl needed him. She'll have to have all her birthdays without her daddy and he was everything to her."

Juarez leaves behind two children. It happened just days before a very special father- daughter dance.

His daughter says this has changed her life forever. An entire Fresno community still wonders how someone could be so cruel.

Those who knew Richard assure he was loved by all. He would mow people's lawns to try and help them out, whether they could pay him or not.

He was known for being a kind-hearted, Christian man.
