Fresno Co. Sheriff's Office investigating the death of an inmate

The Fresno County Sheriff's Homicide unit and the Fresno County District Attorney's Office is investigating the death of an inmate at the Fresno County Jail.

On Saturday, May 12th, detectives say a correctional officer found an inmate Timothy Ray Flora, 56, unconscious while conducting a routine cell safety check. The correctional officer began to administer CPR to the man as other medical personnel were called to help.

After 25 minutes of rendering aid, EMS determined that Flora had died.

Fresno Police officers booked Flora into the Fresno County Jail at 2:00 pm on May 10th. He was arrested for being drunk in public. Since being booked, Flora had visited the jail’s medical unit after suffering from alcohol withdrawals.

The Sheriff's Office says a cause of death will be released once a toxicology test is conducted.
