Ferguson Fire reaches 100 percent containment at 96,901 acres
A little more than a month later, the Ferguson Fire has reached 100 percent containment.
Firefighters reached containment Sunday morning at 96,901 acres with 881 personnel assigned to the fire.
The fire started July 13. The cause remains under investigation.
The U.S. Forest Service says while a significant milestone has been reached with containment of the fire, there is still work to be done.
Firefighters will continue to patrol, mop-up and repair fire lines.
The Forest Service says during the heat of the day, some interior islands of unburned vegetation will continue to ignite, but it is not a threat to containment lines.
