TULARE, Calif. (Fox26) – A man was arrested late New Year’s Day in Tulare, after trying to impersonate a police officer.

Visalia Police tells us 29-year-old Brandon Freeman was driving a white Buick when he pulled behind an off-duty Visalia Police officer. He flipped on flashing lights, and attempted to make a traffic stop on the man he didn’t know was a VPD sergeant.

That officer, we’re told, then got in touch with other officers who then pulled him over. He was arrested on a number of different charges.

By the way, the guy riding with him happened to also be wanted for multiple felony warrants He too was arrested and booked into jail.

Visalia Police wants to remind everyone that if someone pulls you over, always ask for identification. Also, when it’s possible, stop in well-lit and highly populated areas.
