Sheriff's Office: Drunk driver leads deputy on a chase with child on lap
A Fresno County Sheriff's deputy tried to pull over a suspected drunk driver at Highway 99 and Highway 180 early Saturday morning.
That's when, deputies say, Raquel Gonzalez refused to pull over and lead them on a chase that reached a top speed of 70 mph, only stopping when she had reached a home on Thomas Avenue.
Gonzalez got out of her car holding a 3-year-old girl, later determined to be her niece.
Deputies say she failed the sobriety tests and was arrested.
Deputies said there wasn't a car seat in the car.
They later learned that the little girl was on Gonzalez's lap during the entire car chase.
Child Protective Services took custody of the three-year-old, according to deputies.
