Deputies seize $50,000 worth of butane honey oil at Merced County bust
Investigators seized 1.76 pounds of butane honey oil from a house in Merced County.
According to the Merced County Sheriff's Office, the Aviation Unit found an illegal marijuana grow in the 4200 block of Merced Falls Road.
When deputies arrived at the house, they found two large crudely made green houses filled with marijuana plants.
Deputies also found a butane honey oil oven, processing center and several pressurized butane canisters at the house.
Due to the dangers of removing the wax from the pressurized oven, deputies contacted a special task force and Fresno's High Impact Investigation Team to break down the butane honey oil lab.
Investigators from Fresno recovered 1.76 pounds of concentrated cannabis with a value around $60 per gram or $50,000 total.
Butane honey oil is a wax concentrated cannabis extract made by pushing liquid butane through a tube packed with frosty buds, deputies explain.
The Merced County Sheriff's Office arrested 27-year-old Ryan Wood and 28-year-old Brittany Martinez. Both were charged with manufacturing concentrate cannabis, marijuana cultivation and possession for sales.
