Coroner identifies Cal Fire mechanic killed while assigned to Carr Fire
LOS MOLINOS, Calif. (KRCR) —

The Tehama County Coroner's office has identified the Cal Fire mechanic killed in a collision Thursday morning. The man who died was 40-year-old Andrew Brake of Chico. The CHP said Brake had been driving northbound on Highway 99 when the Cal Fire support vehicle ran off the road, hit a tree and burst into flames. The collision happened near Los Molinos in Tehama County.
UPDATE 9:30 a.m.:
Cal Fire said a Heavy Equipment Mechanic from the Butte Unit was killed as a result of the crash on Highway 99. Authorities said he had been assigned to the Carr Fire.
A person is dead after a crash involving a fire support vehicle on Highway 99 early Thursday morning.
It happened around 12:20 a.m. near Los Molinos.
The California Highway Patrol said the vehicle went off the road, hit a tree and caught fire. A person died in the crash.
Officials are working to find out which agency the vehicle is associated with and the identity of the driver.
