Central High School Carneige Hall send-off
A high school band from Fresno is now heading to New York City to play at a music festival. The band members will be there with fellow bandmembers from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida. There, they plan to show their support for the lives lost in the school shooting in February.
A send-off was held for Central High School's Wind Ensemble Friday. Central High is one of six schools in the nation picked to play at Carnegie Hall in New York City. There they will present, "We Band Together" t-shirts to Stoneman Douglas in honor of the two band members killed.
Junior, Breana Puildo a flutist with the band wore a grey sweatshirt with a Central High and Stoneman Douglas logo design.
"We are all a community and losing them is kind of like losing one of us. It is great to know we are all able to share this one love for music and dedicate what we are playing to them," said Pulido.
At the festival Central High, Kingsburg High School and Enchos High School will give Stoneman Douglas band students t-shirts with their school logo and the motto, "We band together". Junior, Nathan Rodriguez a saxophonist, wore that shirt in black with orange letters of the catch-phrase emborder on it.
The band will play Tuesday at Carnegie Hall, that's when they plan to give the students at Stoneman Douglas the, "We band together" t-shirts. Rodriguez says Central High band students came up with the idea.
"We would like to give them a good show. We are going to have an exchange and we would love to show the love and the support that we have for their loss," said Rodriguez.
