Caught on camera: car vandalized in Madera

Madera Police are now looking for vandals who targeted a downtown business owner Sunday afternoon in plain daylight.

“They just have no care or respect for other peoples’ property,” says Madera Police Sgt. Mark Trukki.

Surveillance video shows the three stepping out of a Cadillac CTS in a parking lot behind Yosemite Avenue.

Immediately, two men walk over to a Nissan sedan and began to vandalize it.

One of the men kicks the driver’s side doors.

The other takes a bat to the trunk of the car.

A third person, who appears to be a young woman, can be seen recording the whole thing on a cell phone.

The act takes about 30 seconds.

“This is not something we have seen in Madera lately. It’s definitely an isolated incident at this point,” says Trukki.

The owner of the car tells FOX26 News he doesn’t have any known enemies—and hasn’t recently kicked anyone out of his business.

He says damage has been estimated at close to $4,000.

Police say that amount is crucial: this makes it a felony crime.
