Bomb scare at Fresno U.S. Postal Service Office, turns out to be mail stealing device
Fresno Police say that a man found what he thought to be an explosive device at the U.S. Postal Service Office on Tulare Avenue in Fresno.
Officers say that a man was trying to mail a letter Sunday morning when he found a suspicious device with wires sticking out of it inside the mailbox.
When officers arrived they determined it to be a homemade device used to fish mail out of the U.S. Post office mailbox.
Police believe that someone might have been interrupted while trying to steal mail and left the device behind while leaving the scene.
They say it does not appear that any mail was actually stolen.
