PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KMPH)-- — Porterville Police say they've arrested two men behind a series of robberies targeting pedestrians.
Police were called to Date and Plano on the morning of Friday, February 15, regarding an armed robbery.
The victim told police he was walking in the area with his child, when a man approached him and flashed a knife. He says the man demanded "personal property" and threatened to hurt the child.
The victim says he gave the items to the robber, who jumped into a white sedan.
Shortly after, police were called for another armed robbery in the area of Westfield and Prospect. The victim told police a man flashed a knife and demanded that person's belongings. The victim says the man ran to a nearby white sedan, which sped off.
Within the hour, police spotted a car matching the description, with two men inside.
The car stopped at the 1300 block of West Olive Avenue.
Police say the passenger took off running, but was caught a short time later.
That man, Edgar Emigdio, was arrested, and was found to have a felony warrant for his arrest.
The driver, Luis Nunez, was also detained.
While there, police were called about a third person who had also been robbed earlier in the day, at knifepoint.
Police believe Nunez was the person who actually carried out the three robberies.
Police say they found evidence linking the two men to the crimes, including personal property belonging to one of the victims.
Nunez was booked into Tulare County Jail, where his bail is set at $340,000.
Emigdio was also booked at the Tulare County Jail.
His bail is $300,000, in addition to his felony arrest warrant.
