The California Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of the vehicle that hit and killed a woman in West Fresno Wednesday night.

CHP says the crash happened around 10:40 p.m. in the area of Valentine and Floradora Avenues.

American Ambulance personnel arrived at the scene of the hit and run and tried to help the 33-year-old woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later identified as Rochelle Rodriguez, a resident of Fresno.

CHP says it appears the driver was traveling southbound on Valentine Ave. and hit Rodriguez as she was walking in the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop to help the victim and did not call 9-1-1.

Based on physical evidence located at the scene, it is believed the vehicle involved may be a 1999 through 2007 GMC Sierra pickup, dark in color, with tinted or smoked headlight lenses.

The vehicle should have damage to the left front headlight and bumper area.
