FRESNO COUNTY — UPDATE April 17, 2021:

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office now says 19-year-old Jose Varela is the person who was killed in a shooting Friday morning.

The other two men who were shot are both expected to survive. The Sheriff's Office says one of the men's injuries is more serious than the other.

Deputies are still searching for the two suspects they believe are responsible for this murder and attempted murder.

The California Highway Patrol has confirmed three people were shot Friday morning and one person has died.

The shooting happened around 7:30 a.m. in a farm field on S Butte Ave. west of NAS Lemoore in Fresno County.

Officers found one vehicle shot up with several bullet holes in it.

One person has died, and the other two victims were being taken by ambulance to waiting Life Flight Air Ambulance helicopters to be flown to Community Regional Medical Center.

They said the suspected shooters were still on the loose.
