Fox26 News, NewsTalk 580 and 105.9 KMJ, and ValleyPBS are pleased to announce a debate between District 16 US Representative Jim Costa and his challenger, Elizabeth Heng.

The debate will be held at 6:00 p.m. on October 23. The debate will air, live, on Fox26’s sister station CW59, and on NewsTalk 580 and 105.9 KMJ, with a commercial-free encore broadcast on ValleyPBS. It will also stream, live, on and desktop and mobile websites, and via Facebook live.

“It’s my job to work hard every day to get things done for our Valley”, said Rep. Jim Costa. “I look forward to talking about my experience and continued efforts to find common-sense solutions to the problems we face. My appreciation goes to Fox26 News, KMJ Radio and ValleyPBS for their public service efforts to coordinate this forum. Voters need to hear from candidates for public office so they can make informed decisions. I look forward to debating my opponent.”

Challenger Elizabeth Heng said, “This district is my home. I grew up knowing the desperation and economic struggle that still continues to drain resources from our families, farmers, students and small business owners. I am so ready to address issues that have been overlooked and underfunded — issues like restoring water to our Valley, improving education for our kids, and finally providing a solution to immigration that works for this district and keeps our borders secure."

Fox26 News, KMJ, and ValleyPBS partnered last April to produce and air a live debate featuring four of the top five candidates for California Governor.

The event will not be open to the public but there will be a live audience composed of invited supporters of both campaigns.
