Corcoran school raising money to send science students to D.C.

California Resources Corporation presented a check for $2,500 to help the students get to Washington D.C.

Several science students and chaperones from Corcoran Unified School District are raising money after being invited to present their experiments at a national conference in Washington D.C.

The conference is the annual Student Spaceflight Experiments Program and the group from John Muir Middle School needs to raise nearly $8,000 for the trip.

Michael Ikahihifo spent the morning at John Muir Middle School to learn more about the program and the student's fundraising efforts.

The students will formally present their experiment designs and results to their peers.

If you are interested in helping to send the team of four sixth grade scientists, please contact Principal Dave Whitmore at John Muir Middle School at (559) 992-8886 or click here to donate online.

Donations will be used to send our student finalists to the Smithsonian to present the findings of their experiment performed on the international space station.
